0102 on a Xenon board. Appears to be one of the RAM chips for me. It's the
one to the front of the console, left-most chip, not the ones under the
heatsink. Penny fix & GPU bake should do it.

Hey so i keep getting this problem.. I've already redid heatsinks thermal
paste on both GPU and CPU, and it seems to work fine for about 10 min, then it
goes back to this error. So far I've fixed it by unplugging fans till it
hits 2 RROD, then restart it and it works.. but then repeat error. I have a
newer drive in it, could that be a problem?

SoonerChad on 2012-03-31 04:43:32 :

Thanks to goodolick pressure on cpu gets green lights no pressure gets rrod.
Took it apart scraped off old thermal paste cleaned put new artic silver and
thanks to tomi_the_great unplugged fans let run till 2 red lights, cooled down
and booted right up works fine again.

is a little scratch in the motherboard, but i don't think its cutting any

Successfully repaired by reballing GPU with ZT-7.

goodolick on 2011-07-30 18:01:34 :

Can confirm sometimes CPU. Had a reballed GPU Xenon come back to me. After
another reflow of GPU still 0102. Was about to replace GPU when decided to do
further testing. Pressure on ram chips still yielded 0102. Pressure on CPU
produced green lights. Reflowed CPU and the xbox is now stable.

Had a board with 0102 error.
Reballed the GPU but still 0102.
Then I've tried to reflow everything except ANA and SB but still 0102.
I've solved it by reflowing again the reballed GPU!
For sure one of the balls didn't attach properly!

The southbridge can also be a cause of this error code. I had one today that was
fixed by a reflow of the southbrige.

espa on 2010-12-08 00:25:43 :

Fixed over a hundred of these with no problems. The GPU just needs to be
reflowed using the profile available on here, but you need to leave the griddle
on for 30 minutes after the repair. It works everytime. Like I said, over a 100
of these and not one return in 9 months!

texasproxmodsxe on 2010-11-20 22:42:38 :

O1O2 ALSO can be scratched trace on board under gpu due to removing x-clamps
with screwdriver

If I do the aluminum sheet fix, where do I put it? I assume between the GPU and
the Heat sink?

tomi_the_great on 2010-08-15 16:04:42 :

reflow for 5-10 minutes with fan turned off works for me. after 5 minutes i turn
off the sexbox and turnit on again and the 2rrod shown.

i noticed that overheat in GPU cause this 0102 error. So afterthat i make a
paper trik (spliting vent) and play sexbox with open tray and home fans blows
direct on gpu n cpu. because when the 3rrod 0102 occur, i noticed that the air
from the sexbox quite hot.

with this mod, i play 10 hour (2 hour idle) without suffer any overheat, and
crash.

i play GTA4.

This is the most common error code that I see in all the xboxs I repair. About
55-60% of the 3RROD units has this 0102 secondary error code. It is caused by a
cold solder joint underneath the GPU. Heatgun/Griddle will repair these if you
know what you are doing.

hargabyte on 2010-04-19 04:13:29 :

I wouldnt suggest putting an aluminum sheet on your gpu. The only reason this
might work is if the heatsink is scratched up. try sanding down your heatsink
with really fine sandpaper. Also Griff, a hair dryer is now going to help. There
is no way the chip will ever get hot enough. Solder has to reach about 220C to
melt. Thats around 500F.

I have fixed several systems with this error. reflowing the cpu and gpu and
replacing the thermal paste has worked every time for me. I have yet to have one
of these that I couldnt fix

I just was attempting to fix an xbox 360 with a gpu error by reflowing the top
and bottom of the gpu chip. Then, when i put everything back together, the error
was replaced with this. Would this be an easy fix. I have a heatgun, artic
silver 5, and penny's to replace thermal pads. All i ned to know is which
out of all of those will fix this error :D

bigalscot on 2010-01-23 22:27:00 :

Have to say i've cooked my MB in oven, changed thermal paste and still get
the RROD 0102. Used aluminum foil on GPU as a last attempt. It works perpectly.

killrhedake on 2010-01-16 05:25:13 :

Replace thermal paste. 98% of the time, that is the problem. One of the
heatsinks are touching their chip. No X-clamp Mod necessary. Just replace the
thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5.

Griff on 2009-12-15 02:12:31 :

Penny fix then heat with classic heirdryer is help me )

focusthis51 on 2009-12-12 00:23:14 :

adding an a piece of aluminum sheet to the gpu usually fixes this problem.
